Dandelions? How do you get rid of them?

We have so many this spring. I know they are more prone to thin turf areas. I'm trying to remove them without chemicals since we have well water/dogs/kids. We mow often to remove seed heads and pull by hand as much root as possible.

Any organic suggestions?

the only really successful way for me to get rid of dandilions is to dig out the root.

I have the weeding tool and will get on my hands and knees and pull hundreds...if not thousands - every year (unfortunately those seeds blow, so you'll never be rid of them if your neighbors aren't)

last year, I go the best tool for it.

Well, considering Ava is always running around our yard, I couldn't use a weed killer, so I dug them out by the roots with a point hand shovel (the kind for planting and such). I actually became quite obsessed and spent every afternoon for like 4 days popping them out (they come up pretty easily) and we've been dandelion free for about 3 weeks now

Yes, these are ones that you have to get the whole root out to stop them, especially before they go to seed.

I pull as much as I can and spray the hole with vinegar and water to kill what's left.
