Dad Gear Vest

I seriously think when our LOs arrive, DH will NOT want to carry a diaper bag.

As it is, if I ask him to hold my bag (like if I'm running into a pubic restroom or something), he holds it like a football!

Has anyone seen these in person? It looks like a pretty good solution for the Dads ... I guess any vest with tons of pockets would do the trick though.

Re: Dad Gear Vest

Hmm for $79 dollars I'm not sure how I feel about this.
What if it's not vest wearing weather?
It doesn't look like it holds a lot. I know the site says it holds all a diaper bag holds, but it doesn't appear that way... and if it does... would it be comfortable to wear all the items in a diaper bag?? Wouldn't that be bulky??

IDK. I guess i'm just not sold on it. I'd rather go with a man diaper bag. And the bag is really going to be hung on a the carriage anyway so he shouldn't have to hold it too often.

I also haven't thought too much about this part... I figure if the dad has the kid it's understood he needs the diapers, wipes, clothes, bottles, changing pad, etc... all the stuff you would keep in a bag and thus he would just take the bag with the baby with him out of necessity.

my DH isn't crazy about a diaper bag either, but he actually saw one he liked at BRU made my Columbia. It was grey, sporty and small. I think im going to buy it for him as a gift.

DH uses it and has no issues.

Re: Dad Gear Vest

also while diaper bags are great - really in many ways they are just a messenger bag with a few extra pockets and a changing pad that matches. .why not just get him a messenger bag that he likes. . would he hold that. . you can probably even get something from a sporting good store or army/navy. and same with just a regular backpack. . all it needs is a wipe case and a changing pad and voila - diaper bag!

the vest seems like it would be a PITA during the summer and while it would be great on occasion it seems like it would get old fast .

GREAT POINT!

When DH and I met, he had this red Jansport that he took EVERYWHERE and he used it for like 10 years so I was going to get him one to use as a diaper bag -- but then I got that other one as a gift so we just used that instead!

DH is already planning to use his messenger bag as a diaper bag, as he concluded that every single diaper bag I picked out (even plain black ones) were too girly. Chat Icon

Thanks for talking me out of an unnecessarily expensive purchase girls! I'm sure I'll have more of these silly ideas as the months go by. Chat Icon

Re: Dad Gear Vest

To be honest, I though DH would have issues walking around with the diaper bag too. But when he realized I wasn't packing a special bag for him, he just took the diaper bag that was always stocked and ready to go, "girly" or not Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Dad Gear Vest

We got this for my DH. It looks like a regular backpack but has lots of pockets and is insulated so you can keep bottles cold.

Here's the LINK in case you are interested.

There is also a whole line of bags called Diaper Dude that he might like Diaper Dude
