cvs vs amnio
my dr said its totally optional but since I will be very close to 35 (3 weeks away) when the baby is born she recommends either test. Has anyone had one of these and want to share some insite? I am torn on what to do

Re: cvs vs amnio
had the amnio...the test itself was a breeze. So glad I did it because it brought peace of mind for the rest of my pregnancy.

Re: cvs vs amnio
I am the amnio a few weeks ago. It was not bad at all. My sis had the CVS. Its a little more involved and has a higher miscarriage rate mostly because it is done at 12 weeks where the amnio is done 16-20 weeks.
If the results will make a difference as to whether or not You will continue the pregnancy then I say go with the CVS if it won't then I'd go with the amnio

I did the CVS, because it was done a lot earlier then the amnio. It was a little uncomfortable, but I'm very happy I did it and would do again in a heartbeat.

Re: cvs vs amnio
I had the amnio on Friday and it was the best thing I did. I got a lot of great advice from the women on this board as what to expect. Im going to be 35 in December and I give birth end of January. My 12 week and 16 week blood work came back very high for certain things. My doctor urged me to get the amnio. I loved the doctor who did my amnio, he was the best.

Re: cvs vs amnio
I had an amnio and two CVS's. The CVS, as long as its done by the RIGHT doctor, is a breeze. If you speak to a genetic counselor before you have the CVS you can find out what your doctor's statistics are on miscarriage rates.
Good luck!
