Custom framer for a picture?

I just posted on FHF - how DH took a 16x20 wedding pic to Michael's and they offered a custom wood frame with matting for $540 and then 60% off with a coupon.

If I'm going to be spending $204+ tax for a framing job, I'd rather do it at a place that that is their original price. Not somewhere that is inflating the price to make me think I'm getting a deal.

Has anyone had a picture custom framed elsewhere and could give me some recommendations?

Honestly i bought all my frames at ac moore. I get many compliments on them and asked who did them. When i tell people what i actually paid i get the look. Michaels will bend you over for a frame.

I went to Michael's to have some photos framed (including a engagement photo that we displayed at our wedding) and they did a great job and also it was like 70% off at the time so it was inexpensive too!

Never had any problems with them and I'm planning on going back there again.

Do you need a specific kind of frame?

I just bought a 16x20 frame with a matte in it, for like $20 at AC moore and put out wedding pic in it.

There is a framing place on Main St in Smithtown on the corner of Landing Ave that has been there FOREVER, you can check them out.

I alwys use a local operation in Williston Park-Framing Mantis, I have had tons of stuff framed including my engagmnt, wedding and twin newborn pics, they are AWESOME!!

I used LI Picture Frame on Sunrise Highway for 2 pictures in my living room.

They did a great job.


My wedding pic cost me $350 but I got the glass that prevents fading, etc....


My other picture I had framed for $100. That was just a regular picture I had, so nothing special.

OMG what frame did they try to sell him!!! That's insane! The most I've ever spent is $150.

Did you try AC Moore? We've done there as well.

This post is perfect timing for me! I have been going through a similar hard time trying to frame a 20x20 wedding photo, and Michaels was going to charge me almost $300 for a BASIC frame!!! And that's with 50% off already! No thanks! I totally forgot about AC Moore, but it seems like a lot of people like it, so I'm going to give that a try. After spending thousands on the photographer, the last I want to do is spend hundreds more on a single frame!

I'm thinking if you look online you can probably buy a matt and a frame in the size you need if you can't find it at the store...

I had my wedding pictures mounted and framed at Michaels on Northern Blvd. in Manhasset. 3 years later the pic dropped behind the framing...and it cost me a fortune!

Nope, that's the normal rate everywhere unless you buy the frames and do it yourself. Some moolah!!!
