custom cabinets

Has anyone had custom cabinets/bookshelves made? Can you recommend a company that does this? Did they supply you with a drawing first of ideas they had?

Yes, they will supply you with drawings at least most will before you make a decision to buy. Choose a place by visiting several and talking with people to get references. You can even go to big box stores which also do custom cabinets, but do compare prices for what you want.

I ended up going with a small local firm which had a choice of several price levels of cabinets, plus really understood what I wanted. I was given plans which I changed until they were right, then I ordered them. I also paid them to install as that saved me paying tax and I do not have the skills to install cabinets. Some people install everything themselves which does save money, but then tax is due.
