curtain help!

DH got us new bedding a few months ago. the previous bedding was blue and brown which is what color the curtains were...but they obvi do not match at all. i was able to find the exact color of the duvet in room darkening curtains (which i need bc i cannot stand having light in my bedroom). but it just looks so boring
anyone have any ideas on how to make it look nicer? i was thinking adding a sheer panel or something along the edge (kind of like this photo but only something much thinner)...but thought black and grey looks too blah. should i get white room darkeners and use a grey as the trim? is there a color i can add to help liven up the room (i suggested blue but DH said no).

help me pleaseeee

Love that bedding. Its so nutural you can add almost any color. How about picking out a pillow that has some pattern and color to it then adding sheers that pull one color from the pillow. I would think a lavendar or yelow would look great but my monitor is not great on colors so I may be way off!

How about something with a pattern? and put sheer grey in between.
