but dh and i are possibly going to start looking for something....

but what do you think is reasonable considering we live on li....

to have "left over" for savings a month?

i dont mean for food or gas... i mean after ALLLLLL EXPENSES....... what do you think you should be saving for a rainy day?

i dont want to be strung out without 5 dollars to my name kwim?

what is a good number that we should aim for per month? ty for ANY advice!!!!

Well it depends.

What you want to spend

What you get approved for. We got approved for almost 100,000 more than we spent. We didn't want to be house poor.

What you are willing to spend on taxes, and planning on them increasing.

What your other expenses are, car, insurance, nights out, vacations yada yada

How much do you make, you don't want to live paycheck to paycheck (well we didn't ).

What town do you want, schools etc

There is s lot to take into consideration.

ty in advance. we are speaking to a second mortgage person in a week or so. again they will give us a crazy high mortgage...but wont do that.


after spending for a mortgage and all that comes with it...and and all the other thingslike food , a shirt once in a while lol... no one can tell us how much we should be able to save per month.

like if someone said you reallllllllllllly should be saving 500 a month....then i could add up everything again and see if it comes to that.

if someone said no...i would save 700 a amonth minimum...then we would reevaluate.

a mortgage/banker wont tell us how much in reality we should be saving a month....they can only tell us what the bank can give us kwim?

No one is going to tell you what YOU should be saving. That is something YOU need to discuss with dh/so and decide what is best for you.
