cub scouts
First grade Girls have Daisies that start in Kindergarten and go through 1st grade Boys start in First Grade
Cub Scouting is for boys in the first through fifth grades, or 7 to 10 years of age. Boys who are older than 10, or who have completed the fifth grade, can no longer join Cub Scouting, but they may be eligible to join the Boy Scouting or Venturing program.
Its easier for boys! LOL
Girls K-1st is Daisy 2nd - 3rd is Brownie 4th - 5th is Juniors 6th - 8th is Cadets 9-10th Seniors 11-12th Ambassadors
Boys: 1-5th Cubs Scouts 6th-HS Graduation Boys Scouts

This might not be accurate...LOL
My son is a wolf now, he is in 2nd grade. He began last year. Depending on hte Pack and your Den, depends on the level of activity. We are lucky to have a great Pack & Den. They have alot of activiites for the boys, and they are doing alot to earn their belt loops and pin.
I knew nothing about the program as of last year (as a girl LOL) but now I am so happy my son is a part of it!! He really enjoys it too!!
ETA: I am usually super impressed with the young men I meet who are boy scouts. It really teaches them some great lessons to be good people! Also whenever my son is out in uniform, we will have a 20something guy come up to us and tell about his experience as a cub scout/boy scout! it has happened at least 4x in the last year! that says alot about the program IMO.

Funny that has happened to us too. Seems like you meet a lot of people who were scouts and are proud to see the boys doing it. We did a trip when my older son was a Tiger and we met a man at a senior center who was a scout over 50 years ago and he had a whole display case with all his awards!!! It was so nice to see.
Original poster - if you have any scouting questions - feel free to PM me as well. I am a den leader for both my sons and very involved in our pack's activities.

Re: cub scouts
I earned my Eagle Scout rank about 30 years ago, as did my brother. I've been in Cub Scouts with DS for 5 years from Tiger Cub Leader up through Cubmaster. I am currently a Boy Scout Assistant Scoutmaster. I just spent a weekend at a training retreat, and am going to another full-day training session this weekend. There's very little I can't answer for you...
