Crying Phase... (I hope it's a phase)
My DS is 3 years old and just recently going through this crying phase. It's to the point of ridiculous. I put on a shirt, but he cries for another shirt, he wants to wear a jacket, he didn't get to shut a door, finish a waffle (but already threw it away himself)...
I think you get the point. Anyway, it pretty much started right when he was potty trained. I know it's got to be a phase, but it's happening too often. He goes to school Mon, Wed and Fri and the new thing is crying those days he doesn't want to go to school. He's been going to this school since he was 1.5 and always loves it there. He's been crying a lot there too the teacher says... once bc he wanted to wear his sunglasses, once bc he wanted to wear a jacket even though it was 80's outside. He'll be fine inbetween and happy. He also stops fast and you can talk to him about it, but it comes on fast too. I don't know what to do. I speak with him about it, about using his words. His teachers do too and then he stops. Please tell me it's a phase! I know it has to do with growing up and potty training. Just don't know how to stop it.

Crying Phase... (I hope it's a phase)
My dd does this at times too, shes about to turn 3. And yes it makes me want to bang my head against a wall as well. I don't know that its working, but when she does this I do not give in to her. I explain to her she needs to use her words. Crying does not get her what she wants. I do every single time she freaks about anything. And yes she does it for all the same thing your son does like opening our front door, to what hair bow she is going to wear that day! (LOL) Its not every little thing but its def happening more and more, some days are better than others. I don't know if Im getting through but I explain to her that shes feeling frustrated and she has to use her words. Again I do not give her what she wants when she cries cause I feel it will just encourage the behavior. Hopefully it gets better soon. I also notice its a million times worse when shes tired or hungry. Oooo then shes a monster hahahaha

Crying Phase... (I hope it's a phase)
Def a phase...don't worry. My DD is 3 and is the exact way you described and I feel like it just happened recently too. This morning it was crying because she wanted more toothpaste. Yesterday it was because she didn't shut the door. And then she stops..so def a phase. Hang in there!! It is frustrating though!

Re: Crying Phase... (I hope it's a phase)
DD just turned 3 and is doing the same thing. Very frustrating.
Last night, she had me flipping through channels for almost 1/2 hr. because we would watch 3 minutes of a show, and then she'd cry that she didn't want to watch that one, she wanted another one...And that went on and on and on. And she has more of a whiny cry, than a regular cry, so it was super fun!
Serenity now!

Re: Crying Phase... (I hope it's a phase)
Ignore, ignore, ignore!!
The worst thing you can do is pay any mind to it. If he is crying for his waffle, say " B, you said you were done and threw it out" and thats it, go about your business.
Trust me I always have someone whining and following me, lol.
I also pick my battles. M is picking out her clothes. This week when it was cool she wanted to wear shorts and a tank. I really didn't care because it didn't effect me. I knew I wouldn't be cold, so I let her make the choice. I told her she needed to bring a sweater and wear it when we were out but could take it off. That was how we compromised and she was ok with it. The jacket scenario I would have let him wear it and then have him decide if he was hot or cold. He is almost 4 and wants to make choices. You need to see the outfits she comes out with. D never did this!

Crying Phase... (I hope it's a phase)
My daughter is almost 3 and has been going through this lately and it's driving me insane! Every little thing she cries about. I keep telling her she needs to use her words like a big girl because I don't understand her when she cries. This phase better end soon.

My daughter is 2.5 and recently started doing this, although not as often as you say. I think they just wanna be in control.

Re: Crying Phase... (I hope it's a phase)
Thanks for all the responces. I never give into these crying episodes but just wondering if it's just my kid. lol. I am firm and ignore. Seems to just start getting better. Was much better when I dropped him at school Friday and no crying fits this weekend. I just noticed it started right when he was potty trained. He's stubborn so I guess gave up the one last thing of being in control. Oh well. Thanks again!!
