cruise with a toddler tips please!

Hi, DH and I are taking our 18 month old on a cruise next month. Do you have any tips to make this easier? we are leaving out of New York so no airplane travel and we are going to the Bahamas. what should we do about a car seat in the Bahamas? I can't lug around our giant convertible one...we also got a balcony room, he won't be able to open that door right? thanks in advance for any tips!!!

Enjoy!
Seriously, I love cruising with kids & cruised w DS when he was 8 months old & a bunch after that.
Bring a narrow stroller for naps (you really don't need it).
Ask them to set up a crib for you (I like the ease of cribs).
No, kid will not be able to open door til about 4/5 yrs old (it's heavy).
Don't bother with a car seat, we didn't drive around much in the Bahamas. We went to a beach in a protected bay that was a boat ride from the ship. Car seats are too big.
Atlantis will be way over a toddlers head, don't bother (and it is way too $$).
Don't forget that it's going to be cold on the way down!
Crew members often have young kids of their own who they miss (so they often will go the extra mile for you and be super duper friendly to your kid).
If you are going to a private island (great port stop no matter which ship), rent chairs with shade. They do sell out and were the best $ we spent.
You will be able to wing lots of it!

Have a great time!
