Re: cruise with a toddler....
I just went on NCL dawn I have an almost 3 year old. we did have a great time. Docked in Bermuda for 3 days. did the beach by bus, shopping at dockyard and also took ferry to Hamilton, and there is a free beach right by the Ship that has a play ground and beach access. There is also an old army yard that is fun to walk around that also has access to Dolphin quest so you can see the dolphin perform. You can also swim with the dolphins but it can be expensive.
On the ship the food was good in the buffet and pool side BBQ. 2 resturants that are included were very crowded with a wait. (its freestyle cruising so no assigned seating). They did have 7 other resturants but you had to pay a cover per person ranging from $10 to $25 but the food was great (the baby was no charge).
They had a few good kid movies in the thearter and mine had a ball doing some of the night shows dancing on the stage. The crew knew her by name and always greeted her and included her in events.
One negative, They had a great kid area in back of the boat water slides a spray pool and even a little jacuzzi. But the kids weren't allowed in with a diaper, even a swim diaper it was kinda crazy. Mine wore the bathing suit with the built in swim diaper and they bugged me the first day insisting she was wearing a diaper.
But all in all we had a great time every day she asks to go back on the ship and see the dinosaurs.

I think Royal Caribbean is toddler friendly.
We are also looking into cruises with a toddler. We are probably doing europe though.

Re: cruise with a toddler....
We did Carnival Miracle with DS when he was almost 2 in 2008. We are going again in May 2011. Same ship out of NY but different ports.
We love the Miracle. Very kid friendly and we love the Camp.
We will be going with my son who will be just shy of 5, my daughter who will be 2 and my niece who will be 2 1/2. YAY!!!
I think they are the most kid friendly with the extra fee too. They charge $450 for each extra guest. Princess for example wanted $800!
Traveling out of NY with a child is fantastic!! You don't have to worry about the flight, how much you pack, the stroller, etc.
The van picked us up, brought us to the gate and we walked right on the ship. Couldn't be any easier

Re: cruise with a toddler....
We just got back yesterday from our cruise to Bermuda on Celebrity. They have to be over 3 to use the big kids play area, but they do have a small room with toys for kids under 3. We used it twice.
The best thing is that swim diapers ARE allowed into the kids pool. It is located behind the big kids play area on deck 11. Had our weather been nicer, we would have used it more. We only used it the last day because that was the warmest day. The pool is outside.
They will custom make pureed baby food and custom made chicken nuggets for DS. You have to ask them to do it in advance. So every night at dinner I would pre-order food for the kids. You can still order from any menu for them. They had some great options like filet mingone for the children's menu. My kids also liked the nectarine juice.
Bermuda is nice. We went to Baby Horseshoe Bay, the aquarium and caves. We also walked around the dockyards and hamilton. Since we were a party of 13, we had a lot of hands to help us.
I think that it was a good family vacation. I was really worried about Celebrity being for an older crowd but it was very nice and kid friendly. I would recommend them.
One thing to note if your DC is using formula, the in room refrigerator is not motorized, so only bring the small RFT bottles. Also we brought our own high chair. That was a life saver.
