Croup question
I think DD has croup. She has a dr appt at 10:15, but wanted to ask....is it usually accompained with fatigue? The poor thing is just laying on the couch. I feel so badly for her. Yesterday she had no voice, with a slight couch and in the middle of the night she came in with the bark and wheezy souding breathing. She also said that her throat hurts. She has no appetite, but I got her to eat an ice pop and a few goldfish. Also getting her to drink whatever I can get in her. It's just the laying around that has me nervous. She never gets like this

Croup question
My DS had it and he was fine except for the bark. But he was getting over the cold part and it was just the cough that got worse.
After he went to the Dr he was much better within a few days.

Re: Croup question
OMG I am going through the same thing. How old is your DD? Both my girls have this awful cough but DD2 is only 7.5 months and I think it's croup too. She's EXHAUSTED, will barely eat, her babbling sounds so hoarse and the coughing is thick and awful. She's just mushy and miserable. I'm treating it like it is croup (sitting in steamy bathroom, cool mist humidifier, tylenol etc). DH is home with them today so maybe I will tell him to go to doctor.

Re: Croup question
When DD had croup, she was also all mushy and tired. You could hear that barking sound with pretty much every breath she took, so it must have taken so much energy just to breathe. She wasn't *sick* when she had croup, but was so exhausted from all the labored breathing / coughing.
The ped gave her one dose of steroids a day for 3 days and it passed pretty quickly. She stopped having trouble breathing about 10 hours after the first dose.

Re: Croup question
So it is croup. Fever was 102.6 as doctor. They checked her O2 saturation and it was normal. He also took a throat culture which was negative in the office, but he is sending out for culture just in case. Gave her tylenol when we got home and fever came down and now she is much beter. She is wolfing down a bologna sandwich as I type this. She also just ate a whole pear. She speaks in a whisper and coughs from time to time. He gave her a steroid which I will give to her this afternoon and then twice tomorrow.
Thanks for all your responses! One of the many reasons I love this site! Life experience is so much more valuable than google!!
