Crochet - Books/Easy project?
Hi! I haven't crocheted in a LONG time and the only thing my mom taught me was a single crochet.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to which books to learn from?
Also, if you have an easy project I can start off with, I'd greatly appreciate it!
(The only thing I ever did was a blanket - and it was a very lopsided one....)
TIA!!

Re: Crochet - Books/Easy project?
to get you back into the swing, i suggest to grab a skein/ball of peaches and cream/ sugar and cream (depending on where you buy it) and make a few dishcloths. they are fast and you feel a sense of accomplishment quickly.
once you get the rhythm back in your wrist/hand, i say you go over to ravelry.com. it's a great site for knitters/crocheters/weavers/spinners. every question you have, someone has the answer.
also, check out youtube. there are so many people who put really good instructional videos together to share.
after a single crochet, i think the next two stitches to learn are the double-crochet and the slip stitch. once you've got those three stitches under your belt, there is a whole new world of things you can make.

This is the book I taught myself from, but there are lots out there with basically the same info. Most pattern books have some sort of tutorial in the beginning.
Also I agree with Libby- check out Youtube, because they actually demonstrate the stitches if you are confused.
Have fun!

Thanks! I ordered a ton of books from the library yesterday but I didn't see this one. I'll have to look it up.

I used you tube also and when I got the hang of it I went to lion brand and started with a beginning pattern there.
