CRIBS
What cribs did everyone get or register for or plan on getting?
I thought I saw some I liked, but the more research I do, the more nervous I get about stability and safety. But not too many models offer that great a rating and I cant afford over $500 for a crib to get the best safety...so what now?
Looking to see what everyone else got.

I know - it's nerve-racking to make these decisions.

Re: CRIBS
How about JC Penney. My sister got hers there. Aren't there certain standards that a crib has to meet?

Re: CRIBS
It is a tough decision, especially when you want to stay in a specific price range.
We went with 3500 Collection by Morigeau Lepine

Re: CRIBS
We went with the Hamptons crib by Sorelle. We loved the look, the floor model at BBB stood up to all of our tests (sturdy even for a floor model, quiet release) it recieved a good rating and review in the Baby Bargains book and was under $400.

yep referring to that a LOT. But all their A rated cribs are WAY over my price range and I guess im a fanatic and find it hard to settle for a B rated one, although Im thinking its probably just fine in the end.

Re: CRIBS
I got my Pali crib for about $500 and it came with the mattress from Behr's. I love it because it has the drawer underneath to store the sheets and blankets.

A lot of the ratings that are B-B+ are that way because of customer service. That is the case with our brand ( they were an A now they are a B+). I am not as concerned about that aspect of the crib.

They are a newer line and aren't rated in the Baby Bargains book. You might want to check out their website www.babybargains.com and see if there are any parent reviews.

Re: CRIBS
All cribs have to meet certain safety guidelines, so I would say pretty much all of them are going to be "safe" regardless of price, and if they weren't safe, they would be recalled. The more expensive ones are usually made of higher quality wood, vs. particle board with a coat of paint on it or they have a more intricate design to them and usually convert to a toddler bed and a full size bed.
I remember when I had my son, the crib was $99 and I never had a problem with it breaking, him getting hurt, etc. Granted he didn't sleep in it very much, but for $99 it was a good crib. It was a Delta Luv, and I actually saw it online recently at the Walmart site and it's still the same price!

This is soo true! the less expensive cribs are made from Pine-it's easily dented. The more pricey cribs are made from hardwood, supposedly much harder to dent.
I have hardwood crib and so far, dd has been in it since 8 weeks old and it still looks brand new.
For #2 i am in the same situation, i can't spend 600 bucks on a crib again and are having a hard time picking one i like under 300 bucks.

The crib I'm looking at is rated B+ I didnt want to spend a ton of money either. I think it's 200 at BRU - I can't for the life of me remember the brand.

Ours is is made by Stanley furniture - the Isabella collection. We got it at Behr's and it's gorgeous. it was a little pricey but it converts to the toddler bed and then the full size bed. here is a pic:

Re: CRIBS
We got a Legacy crib by childcraft. We saw it in BBB and ordered it from Behrs along with a Legacy dresser. Both were the same price at both stores and the crib was $350 (only goes up to a toddler bed and does not convert to a heaboard and footboard). Baby Bargains gave legacy either an A or an A+ because of good quality and they do some extra tests on their stuff like hanging a 50 lb weight off it to make sure as the child gets older he can't tip it over. Baby Bargains rating was not the reason we picked the crib--we just happened to agree on it--but it was good to see it got a good rating. And we pushed the items around to see if it was true and they were both really stable. Image Attachment(s):

We got this same crib. Snce we needed to buy 2 of them, there was no way we could spend $500 each. We got them on sale at BBB for $199 each, plus I had the 20% off coupons. They were advertised in their flyer. I think they were in their spring flyer - which came out Feb/March.

Re: CRIBS
I really wanted a drop down side (easier on my back when you drop the mattress) I went with a Bonavita Crib
eta it was $399 at BBB and I used a 20% off coupon
I think it got a decent rating in the Baby Bargains book (since that was my bible.) I think they have weak customer service. I can live with that. Image Attachment(s):

Re: CRIBS
Okay, so I"m looking for the A rated cribs in Baby Bargains and they don't seem to be in any stores around us!!
Buy Buy Baby seems to be the only one that carries any of them.
This is annoying!!!
