crib to bed?

DD is a little over 2 yrs old and for the last 2 months she's been going to sleep in her crib then waking in the middle of the night and crying til we bring her into bed with us. At first she was not feeling well, then she was teething and now it's just become a regular occurrence. I'm not interested in CIO. I'm wondering if it might be time to transition her to a bed. That way if she wakes up I can just lay down with her til she falls back to sleep then get back into my own bed. Again, not ideal, but better than having her in my bed. Anyone have a similar situation? Is she too young for a big girl bed?

crib to bed?

Supposedly 3 is the recommended time for the transition. I know people who do it much earlier. The idea behind 3 is that you tell them not to get out of bed unless they're with a grown up and before 3 they don't really get that.

I would be nervous to put her in a bed. She can wake and walk around without you waking. But I also wouldn't want to be bringing her into our bed. That's a tough habit to break.

What if you laid on the floor and in a chair in she room until she falls back to sleep?

I was pretty much forced to move my ds into a bed before he turned 2.5 since he kept climbing out. We put up bed rails on the sides to keep him from falling out. At first we did have to lay with him until he fell asleep but shorty after he got used to being in his bed and fell asleep by himself

crib to bed?

I out my DS in a Twin just before his 2nd bday. He loved it and slept much better. Hes a mover so he just had more room to flip around.

He completely understood that he wasn't to get out and should call us. He is now almost 4 and will not get out until morning even to pick up a toy on the floor without calling us.

I think you're just asking for her to keep getting out of bed. At least with the crib she's trapped there! If she already wants out, letting her out will likely just make it worse IMO.

crib to bed?

I changed my dd at 3 and that was late amongst her friends. Apparantly they all changed at 2 or even earlier.
My dd was asking for one. And she sleeps much better. And yes when she wakes up she is allowed to get up, but she comes straight to me. She never just walks around by herself.
I close all the other doors and have the gate locked by the stairs.

IF you think your child would do better in a bed of her then go for it. Only YOU know your child. Every child is different and has different understanding. There are no rules that you must do this. Read your child and do what is best for her regardless of age.
