Crib or bed??

My DD will be 20mths old when arrives. Do you think I should get another crib or just move her to a bed? My mom thinks I'm crazy for putting her in a bed since (as of now) she is making no attempts to get out, she's 17mths.
If it makes a difference (God willing) we will have more children and I would like to have them close in age.

My ds was 20 months when DS2 was born, and we put him in a twin bed. He was climbing out, though. If she isn't climbing out, and shows no signs of being interested in it..maybe wait. You don't necessarily have to get another crib just yet. If new baby will be in your room, you can play it by ear, and see how she does. By the time you want to put your new baby in the crib, she may be escaping the crib, and you will have your answer!

I agree. My son was 18 mths when baby number 2 arrived and he is now 21 months and I still haven't moved him from the crib. He has tried climbing out yet and I hope to keep him in there as long as I can. My little one stayed n our room for 2 months too:)

My girls are 14 months apart. I moved DD#1 to a twin bed at 17 months when I needed the crib for DD#2.

DD#2 hated the crib and moved to a twin bed at 15 months. DS started climbing out at 18 months so we made the switch to a twin bed. All 3 of mine switched early with no problems. So I personally would switch her.

My DS is a bit older (27m), but he is being switched from the crib and into a toddler or twin bed very soon. He hasn't tried to climb out yet and loves his crib, but I really do not want to buy 2 more cribs, totaling 3 in this house at once. If he were still as young as your DC, I would just get another crib, though.

My first two have the same age difference as yours will. I bought another (cheaper) crib for DD#1. I wanted her to have as few adjustments as possible--and me too...I was petrified she would start getting up at all hours, etc. and us with a newborn. She ended up using it for another 20 months--until 3 years 4 mos! We definitely got our money's worth!

I'd do the bed thing. I think it's a waste of money to buy a second crib for no reason.

As PP mentioned, you might have the new baby sleeping in your room for the first few months anyhow so DD can stay in the crib for now

So many different opinions lol I'm still so torn on what to do!! I guess I'll wait a couple of months and see if she is climbing out etc. as someone else mentioned tho I am petrified she will start to wake at night, not go to sleep easily etc and it's gonna be rough esp with a newborn

DS 1 was 27 months when DS 2 arrived and he wasn't climbing out of the crib so we kept him in. DS 2 stayed in our room in the RNP for a few months and in that time, DS 1 started climbing out so we moved him to a bed and then put DS 2 into the crib at 3 mos.
