Crib Mattress
What do you ladies recommend? Also if it is waterproof, do you heed a waterproof cover or just put the sheet right on?

Re: Crib Mattress
i have been doing serious research for the past 2 days and have decided on Moonlight Slumber's Little Dreamer. Great reviews in the baby bargain book, online, you name it. I also really like that the company only does mattresses.
Looking at sheets and stuff I've decided on doing a mattress pad and the Quick Zip sheets.
Another option you have is the Ultimate Crib sheet which goes on top of your sheets and is waterproof (I read the newer models are not as good as the older and are falling apart way too easily)

Re: Crib Mattress
I just bought the Sealy Soybean Foam-Core Crib Mattress . It has good reviews in the baby bargains book and its affordable for being a foam mattress as well.

What mattress pad are you doing or does it matter?

I don't think it matters but I looked online (just need to feel it in person) and I saw Carter's has one and it's only $11 (BBB had it). It also got great reviews.
The Sealy soybean mattress mentioned above did get good reviews in the Bargain Book but once I looked into it further it seems it's not a 100% soybean mattress like stated and people were complaining it was starting to dip after a few months of use. While Sealy supposedly has great customer service, I rather buy 1 mattress and spend the extra knowing I shouldn't have to worry about it.
If money is tight or a mattress is not a huge concern definitely look into the Sealy Soybean - Amazon has it for $85 as opposed to BBB or BRU $160.

Re: Crib Mattress
Thank you so much! I think I will go with the Moonlight Slumber's Little Dreamer - one more question if you don't mind - are you getting the Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer Crib Mattress or the Moonlight Slumber Supreme Dual Foam Crib Mattress?

Re: Crib Mattress
Everyone has their own opinions on mattresses and I have only heard great things about this mattress.
There are great mattresses at all price points so do your own research and pick the mattress that is best overall for both price and quality.

I was looking into just the basic Little Dreamer for $190.
I also price compared and it seems like it's basically locked so 20% off at BBB it is!
Mama2b, I wasn't knocking that mattress in any way and actually went in with me looking at this one thinking it was going to be it.
And you are right - it is a personal preference but if someone researching something can help another person out so be it

great-thanks! :) honestly I'm just so sick of researching it's nice to have someone take the legwork out every now and then. Of course I did do some myself but this was so helpful!
