crib/mattress 2 finger test?

crib/mattress 2 finger test?
I read in a few different places this weekend that if you can easily fit 2 fingers between the crib and the mattress then it's not the right size.
But the crib says "fits stadnard size matress" and the matress is 27.5 x 52 x 6
It's the Davinici Twilight 6 inch ultra firm matress and the crib is the da vinci anastasia crib.
I can DEFINITELY fit 2 fingers inbetween the matress and crib.
Do I need to buy new?

I just looked online and our mattress (the Colgate Classica II) is 28 x 52 x 5. That's really strange how different our mattress sizes are. Maybe call the company?

sorry mine is 52 not 57
Its the width that scares me. Do you already have your crib/mattress?

sorry mine is 52 not 57
Its the width that scares me. Do you already have your crib/mattress?
DD is 19 months (tomorrow, actually) so she's been sleeping in there for 10 months now (she was in the rock n play in our room for a really long time... 9 months, actually).

I really love our crib! The mattress is definitely a snug fit in it. We have a wedge under the sheet (it puts the top at a slight angle which I did because she was so used to the angle of the rock n play) and a mattress protector under the sheet, but they don't change the fit more than a centimeter or so in total -- not plush at all.

hmmm.
That's so weird b/c my crib dimensions are smaller than yours.. but my mattress is also smaller than yours.. I think I need to find a 28 instead of 27.5 inch wide mattress and that will cure the issue.
I never thought Id spend so much time worrying about something like this!
