Crib anxiety...I want her next to me forever

Okay please give me some words of encouragement as to why I should switch her to the crib? I LOVE having her right next to me but she is almost as long as her bassinet. I think it's especially hard to let her go into her room because I'm going back to work next week and having MAJOR anxiety. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Also if you have a video monitor - where do you put it so that you can see the whole crib? I have a squiry wormy so I know she'll be all over the place! Thanks!

aww it will be okayChat Icon Chat Icon

I put the video monitor on the top shelf of my hutch facing the crib at a downward position, so i can see her at every angle she decides to squirm to.

I know exactly how you feel. I put it off for a while. I promise she will be ok though. After you put her in there the first night it will get easier. Just think of how much more comfortable she will be. Chat Icon

It will be okay. The first few days you will probably check on her every 5 minutes, but it gets better. I think DD slept better in her crib too!

Thanks! Would you say putting the crib in our room for a few months can turn into a disaster? She's 2 1/2 months.

She will be ok. This way she has room to move around.
The first couple of nights will be hard for you, but it does get better. Chat Icon

I think you should just take the plunge and put her in her own room so it won't be that much harder in a few months.

Re: Crib anxiety...I want her next to me forever

Well...I put her in last night...she went right to sleep...and then 15 minutes later I went in an scooped her up and brought her back into my room in the bassinet.Chat Icon .

I think I'm extra nervous because she is a belly sleeper and I just read in my book yesterday that most SIDS cases happen between 2 and 4 months. I am just not ready to let her go in her own room yet.Chat Icon

Maybe I'll try again tonightChat Icon

You are very lucky that she fell right asleep and had no problem adjusting... keep trying, you will both do great, eventuallyChat Icon Chat Icon

Charlie is 4 1/2 months and because we have a one bedroom apartment, we have no choice but to have the crib in our room. The only disaster I see happening is me having a breakdown down when he does go into his own room (when he's 16 Chat Icon)

Ha! As I brought her back in last night I said to DH, I wonder if they make a bassinet that fits children up until 16...Chat Icon

There's no rule that says you have to switch her to the crib. We didnt' move DD until she was 6 months old and honestly if we were all sleeping well I never would have moved her. My partner at work still has her almost 2 year old in their room, it works for them.
You could get an arms reach co sleeper or move a pack n play into your room if you still want her with you.
Sorry I'm not much help but I think co sleeping is a good thing if it's working for mom, dad and baby.

I decided to wait until I'm okay with going back to work and that routine, then I'll give it a try. This is all just so hard.Chat Icon Enjoy your 2 weeks!Chat Icon
