Re: Credit Collectors HELP
Is the credit collector legit? Did you check with them.
Sometimes it takes time to show the payment in your credit.

It does not sound right to me. Are they both on your credit report?

Re: Credit Collectors HELP
LOL... sue this new debt collector for violating the FDCPA. Did you save all your collection letters? They literally could be worth money if they put wording in there that is illegal for them to do.
If you have a paid in full letter from the original creditor, this new debt collector cannot collect on it since the debt was satisfied. It is illegal for them to try to collect on this debt.
ETA: I am actually in the process of sueing a debt collector myself. If a debt collector violates the FDCPA in any of their letters (fair debt collection practices act), they owe you $1000 bucks per incident.
Do a google search for "sue debt collector".

Re: Credit Collectors HELP
How old was the debt???
It is quite possible that you were no longer responsible for the debt..

Re: Credit Collectors HELP
I would research this w/ your original creditor (call them). If you have a letter saying "paid in full" then that should be it.
