Credit Cards with Rewards
I have a Chase Slate CC that has no balance on it. I use it for when I travel for work. I get absolutely nothing from this card in terms of perks. I've had this card for years so it's not something I want to close and open a new one and I don't want to just open a new card. Can I just ask Chase to switch me to another card like their Sapphire or Freedom?

You could ask - I'm sure they would rather have you switch cards than cancel your card as well.
For rewards, I use the American Express Starwood Card - I am very happy with it. I get Starpoints that can be used at Starwood Hotels and for airfare (I usually just use them for hotel stays though).
They have no blackouts so it's been awhile since we paid for a hotel (we charge everything we can on there to get more points and then pay off the balance).

That is awesome you don't pay for hotels.
