crazy question...need someone to talk me down!
I just go off the phone with my aunt, and she said that she told her kids to get cushions from the lawn chairs and bring them inside...bc if they have to go on there roof, the cushions will act as flotation...WHAT?!?
I asked if she was kidding and she said no, it happened in Katrina...we are closer to the water than she is, but this didnt even cross my mind? Should it have??
Someone in this family is crazy,,,is it me or her

I don't think all cushions are floatation devices. Your patio is not an airplane.
Beyond that, I dont' know.

If she is that close to the water or a flood zone that she has to think about going on the roof with floation devices- I would seriously think she should have evacuated!!

Since you say you are closer to the water than she and if you are in a mandatory evacuation zone and have no evacuated, I'd say you're the crazy one

def not in evacuation zone...either of us...we are just north of sunrise south shore

I guess maybe hers could be, but probably not.
I agree with NervousNell, though-if she is that concerned, she should evacuate while it is still early.
She should still take them in though, just b/c they will blow away.

But seriously. Officials are monitoring the storm. If you need to be evacuated, you will be. Just keep your Go bag handy and monitor the news and weather.

Katrina had the whole levies issue, so I don't think anyone not in an a zone will require flotation devices.

You can be closer to the water but have a higher elevation.

Agreed. We are right on the water but still at an elevation of more than 80 feet above sea level.
