coxsackie:(
my 12 m/o had a 103 fever on friday with two bumps around her mouth. Fever was gone by Sat, but more bumps showed and she napped for 5 hours throughout the day. Today she seems fine, but there's bumps on her face (around her chin), butt, hands and feet. The ones on her butt seem like they are blistering but don't seem to be bothering her.
Has anyone's kids had this? how long did the bumps/blisters last, and was there anything you did to get rid of them?

Aww. It's been awhile since my kids had coxsackie. But from what I remember I believe once the bumps/blisters come out, that's the end of the virus. I don't remember cre actually treating them. They just went away on their own. Just kept my kids comfortable-Motrin for fever, gentle baths, cool washcloths, stuff like that. I remember the dr saying it looks a lot worse than they actually feel. This is just how the virus shows up in kids. Hope she feels better soon!

Ugh. Dd1 had it. No fever, but she had the blisters on her feet, hands and throat. It just has to run its course unfortunately. Hope she feels better soon and nobody else gets it.

Ugh, so sorry to hear this! DD is a coxsackie magnet. She's 2 years old and has had it 4 times. There are hundreds of strains of this virus and you only gain immunity to the particular one you get. Her symptoms varied each time and no one case was similar. One time she had the bumps only on her hands and feet but ran no fever. The other time she had a horribly high fever (105) and only had bumps in the back of her throat. One time she had them on her genital region (it passes easily through stool). There's no way to treat the bumps -- they'll go away on their own. You can only treat the symptoms that accompany it -- mainly Motrin/Tylenol for the fever and aches. The time she had them in her throat, she lived for 4 days on yogurt and ice pops -- anything else hurt her throat and she couldn't swallow well. It spreads like wild fire so be sure to take precaution and stay away from other children. I found that crazy obsessive handwashing did help reduce transmission.

Ugh, I'm so sorry!
DD had this recently. She had 103 fever for about a day and a half before it broke. Bumps appeared the second day and lasted about 6 days. I kept her out of daycare for 8 days total- so 10 days total including the weekend. I stayed home with her for a full work week and then the extra days I had her stay with family as a precaution. Ped. said the first week or two are the most contagious. My DH and I both wound up getting it, too, but we just had a high fever and felt crappy, no bumps or blisters. I hope your LO is feeling better soon!
ETA: They are definitely still very contagious even after the blisters show up. They can still transmit even after they go away! It can spread for WEEKS!

during the 6 days she had the blisters, was she in pain at all? DD has them all over, but seems to be pretty happy overall. Just having trouble eating and sleeping at night

No pain at all as far as I could tell. She was pretty much her usual self. Once the fever broke, she had no trouble sleeping, but she didn't have much of an appetite for those first few days.
I will say I kept giving her tylenol/motrin for maybe the first 4 days. Her fever broke on the second day, but it would go up a little, never over 101, but I just kept giving her tylenol in case it spiked again.
ETA: She had none in her mouth, but they were on her hands, her feet, her butt, and her face.

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier! DD didn't seem to be itchy, but I'd try diaper rash cream or aquaphor. I usually use that or boudreauxs butt paste.
