Re: Cow Harbor?
I am so sad I'm not doing it. I dedicated myself to running this summer, did the Summer Run Series and really improved my time all in preparation for Cow Harbor...
...only to learn two weeks ago that I have a stress fracture in my ankle. No running at ALL for 4 weeks and I have to wear a brace/air cast all the time.
It's my favorite race - I was so disappointed. Thought about ignoring the doctor (the pain was/is not that bad - they initially diagnosed me with tendinitis before they saw the MRI) but was convinced otherwise by more rational people! Haha.
Good luck to everyone running it! I will be there to cheer on my dad and my friends!

Re: Cow Harbor?
I did it last year in 1:06.
BUT- after the race i developed problems in my knee- I think the uphill and downhill aggravated it.
I've been running the same amount as I did last year so I think I can finish in the same time but my knee is feeling so much better I am hesitant to sign up....but I LOVED doing it!
So undecided!

Re: Cow Harbor?
I'll be there. At the beginning of the summer I was really hoping to break 50 minutes (I was 50:45 last year), but I didn't have the best racing, running summer, so goal B is to be under 53.

I'm doing it too! First time and I'm really nervous about that big hill. My husband and I are doing it together. I'm aiming to finish right around the 1:00 mark too but really have no idea. Right after this I start my training for my first marathon in January so I certainly hope the hills don't injure me!

don't worry-the one bad hill is james street and it is pretty tough. i am a wimp though and have walked it and then ran the rest of the race-which actually works pretty well. since the hill is within the first 2 miles i don't like to max myself out too early. good luck and have fun-it is such a good race!

I didn't do as good as I wanted to I as hoping for 1 hr10 min and I came in just under 1hr16 min. I let the hills and the heat get to me. I was hoping it would have been a cooler morning. I don't do well in heat.
BUT, this was my 1st 10k also and I am just glad I finished!

Re: Cow Harbor?
What a great race! How much fun was that with all those awesome supporters on the side lines! I thought they were so nice! I finished in 1:02 and while I was hoping to break an hour and didn't I was still happy given how hot it was. Now I have to get ready for the Divas next sunday! Who else is doing it?

Great job! I love how everyone comes out and supports the runners. It always gives me chills and motivates me. Goodluck at the Diva race next week-I am doing it as well.

I did 1:01 so I was happy with that. Of course I would have loved to break an hour but happy overall. It was soo hot out but the spectators were amazing! I made sure I got sprayed at every hose!
Great Job everyone!

Congrats girl you did amazing especially for your first 10K. It's a tough course and that first hill is killer. Be proud of yourself you did great and not to mention the heat was horrible!

Thanks! It also didn't help that my ipod decided to freeze up on me right after that 1st big hill I was so lost with out my music and the Nike+!!!
But I am extremely proud that I did it!!! I am just thinking of it now as a time to beat next year!!!

Re: Cow Harbor?
great job everyone! It was a hot one!
I was disappointed - I'm sure the heat didn't help, but I had to run 20 miles 6 days before for my marathon training and my legs just couldn't move. I ran 8 minutes slower than last year!!!!!
I did every training run faster than I ran Saturday! My ipod broke at mile 2 also! and I peed a little in my pants! so I poured water all over me and made an uncomfortable situation! It was just a bad day!!
even though I said to myself, I'm never doing this again during the race - see you all next year and maybe I'll really be able to break my barrier!

Re: Cow Harbor?
OMG! Erica that is too funny!!!! I wish I saw you there! And how funny, I said the same exact thing somewhere around mile 4.5, "I will NEVER do this again!" and by the time it was over (well, 30 minutes later) I was ready to sign up for next year. I guess that's normal!?!
