Could my cold effect my milk?
I have a cold maybe even an upper respiratory infection and Ryan seems very mucusy (can hear it when he breathes). He spit up this morning and it was thicker then usual - almost snotty. Any thoughts?

I don't think they can catch the cold from your BM. I read somewhere that before you even know you are getting sick, DC will get antibodies from your BM that will either prevent them from getting sick or if they do get sick, it will be a milder form of what you have.
I was sick a couple of months ago and after I got better, DS got a bit congrsted, but never developed further into anything.
to you and baby!
ETA: Don't feel bad, you are actually giving your baby a better chance of not getting too sick by BFing!!!

Re: Could my cold effect my milk?
He had probably already caught it or maybe he just is a little stuffed up today. I would give saline. Also, definitely keep BFing! I was sick for a month with a head cold, upper respiratory infection, ear infections and DD never got sick! Keep it up! Feel better!

sounds like he has what you have. definitely keep on breastfeeding; the antibodies in your milk will make the infection milder for him.
