When is the best time to go? The plan was to go next year in April for our anniversary but that is just too far from now. It would have to be after June of this year.

It totally depends on what part of Costa Rica you want to visit. The Pacific side is rainy in the fall, the Caribbean side is great in February, March, april and early fall.

I want to spend a few days at the Arenal and than travel to the Caribbean side. We're planning on a 9 day stay. Any recommendations on hotels on both parts?

The Springs, Arenal Springs and my favorite is El Silencio del Campo. I just sent my neurologist to the 4 Seasons Papagayo. They loved it. otherwise, something nice in Tortugero but it's far from the airport on the return.
