Cost of a new rug
Our family room is 15x20. We were quoted a price of $1400 plus tax for a mid grade plush rug with "piss pad" padding (it has plastic over it so if the dogs pee, it doesn't go into the padding and it's easier to clean). The piss pad added $121 to the price.
Is that a lot of money? DH told FIL what we were going to pay and FIL said that's way too much and he claims he carpeted his entire upstairs for less than that. So, DH called and cancelled the order.
What's an average price for a rug??

I think that is ALOT!! we did our basement stairs, first floor stairs, basement den, office, and smaller room and a hallway for around 2100 with berber carpet.
Before that we did 2 upstairs rooms wit berber and 2 downstairs rooms with think plush carpeting with a swirly pattern for about 2100
I was quoted 400 to put carpeting in my sunroom which is pretty large (but not sure of the size)

i'd have to agree.. we just got carpet put in the baby's room & it cost us about $400... i'm not sure of the actual measurements, but i'd say its an average size bedroom... not HUGE but not small like an office

Where did you get your rugs from??? The price I mentioned is from Empire Today. We went to Home Depot and the rugs we were looking at were about $3-$4 a square foot so that would be 900-1200 for just the rug.

Empire (the one that advertises on TV is expensive).
That price depends on the quality carpet, padding and whether or not they are removing and replacing furniture. At 42 bucks a yard, I think that is alot. Most union carpenters wouldn't charge that! Try a mom and pop place, you can negotiate easier. GL!

We priced out HD and it was more $ with not so great padding
We used House of Carpets in Valley Stream.. He has carpets on the rolls as well, remenents sort of but has plenty of it and that is what we used. even over a yr later we got the same carpet that we put in 2 rooms upstairs, on the stairs.

you should go to pick out what you want then he will come to measure but you should have the room sizes to get prices

Empire is a ripoff!!
Check Home Depot for their sales prices and also check local carpet places.. Give them the square footage and padding you want and type of carpet and let them give you the quote.
