Cornell and Billing Codes
I'm trying to keep as much of the expense off my limited IF benefit. I saw dr davis and I am submitting the paid bill. I looked up the codes and they are IF related. There was a pap, bacterial swab and a regular exam along with a consult about IVF.
Isn't there a way to code this stuff that's not really IF related yet? I mean the whole IVF thing is a huge expense. I'm trying to keep that benefit off my lifetime max.
I called there today to talk to someone and they have the service on. I guess I'll try tomorrow to talk to someone about the billing codes.

Re: Cornell and Billing Codes
From what I understand those things are not considered advanced IF, so they are not taken out of those benefits which are for advanced IF services (IVF retireval and transfer)
at least that is how my benefits worked when I had them
and even now that I have NO advanced IF coverage, I submit the forms for sonos, b/w, swabs, etc and usually get some $$ back...after my deductible of course

Re: Cornell and Billing Codes
I have a lifetime bene of $15K for IF and a drug coverage of $12K. I know lots don't have anything which I think sucks but I just want these charges to go toward my regular medical side not the IF side.
I'll see what Cornell says tomorrow I guess.

I believe based onw hat I know from working in insurance that what Lisa said is true, but I would call to confirm and make sure the person sounds liek they have a clue, or ask for a supervisor and get the persons name!

Re: Cornell and Billing Codes
From what i understand the nys mandate should cover the diagnostic tests of infertility, pap HsG Labs. however tests related to IVF may not be. Also a pap is a cervical cancer screening and should not be coded as related to infertility! The billing department can resubmit and change the codes. Speak to someone in billing
hope that helps
