Cooking the Mashed Potatoes the Night Before

Has anyone ever done this? My mom did this once and it was great but she can't remember what she did. Do you just reheat it the next day or do you add anything to it so they're not so stiff. I've also heard of just reheating them in a crockpot. Has anyone done this?

I do this a lot.

Make mashed potatos like you normally would and then I put it in a alumunim pan and bake in the oven when I want to serve. I put just a little margarine in the corners and they come out delicious.

The butter will solidify when you put it in the fridge so once you reheat it the butter will melt and it should be back to normal...you might need to add a little milk or cream to loosen it a little.

Just make sure when you do mashed potatoes heat the milk up but, not to a boil. Add milk to consistency you like then add butter.
