Converting Electric Heat to Oil

Hey guys,
Dh and I are going to contract on a house that has electric heat. Being electric heat is very expensive to opperate, we're considering switching to oil (no gas on the block Chat Icon ) Has anybody done this? Did you have to change out all of your baseboards also? Did you have to change out your hot water heater? And approximately, how much did you spend? TIA!

How big is the house?

ETA:

The reason I ask is b/c electric may not be more expensive depending on the size of the house. We have all electric and our bill is nothing compared to what our neighbors pay for their electric AND oil and our houses are about the same size.

Yes you would have to change out the baseboards. You will need new ones with water running through them. You can keep your Electric HW heater.

Re: Converting Electric Heat to Oil

I live in Queens and we live in a 2 bed Apt maybe 700 square ft and in the winter our bill is $350-$400...I can only imagine how much a house will be.

I wouldn't switch just yet since because by the time you close and move winter will almost be over. At least you will have an idea and make changes for next winter if you decide to switch.
