converting camcord tapes to disk

As a holiday gift to my husband I would like to surprise him and have our 8mm tapes converted to a DVD. I just think since we NEVER watch our old tapes since some of the equipment is outdated it would be much easier to enjoy them if they were on a DVD.

Did anyone have this done?
Where?
And can you give me an idea of how expensive it is?

I did it through CVS you can look up the info pricing online. I did it about 2 yrs ago. I can't recall how much it was...but was less then $100.00
YOu just need to have them in order for which you want them played. Mine were not labeled so when we view the video it can go from summer to winter, 5yr old & then baby. Atleast we have it preserved.

We did it through L&L Camera in Huntington several years ago but I can't remember how much it was.

There was a groupon for Scan Digital who do this. I didnt get it but I saved the website. I have a few things I want to send to them.

I am not sure about 8 mm tapes, but I bought one of these VHS to DVD converters at Hammacher and converted my entire family's memories:
