Controversial Question/Topic - Banking your newborns cord blood

I'm new to pregnancy and I guess what is happening in the modern world BUT I was at the doctors yesterday and picked up a pregnancy magazine and saw ads for these blood banks on every page. I have never heard of this.
I haven't spoken to my DH or my OB about this since I'm totally clueless so does anyone have any insight
pros & cons and so on

TIA

The best thing for you to do is sit down with your DH and OB and have a discussion about it. That's what we did, and we decided that we would be donating our chord blood. That seemed like the right decision for us. But everyone is different.

And as the PP said, Blissful did seem very knowledgeable on the subject. She would be a good person to talk to.
