contractor/plumbing drama- what would you do?
I am sooooo frustrated!!!! we had a cement company come over last Thursday to do over a small grass area we had in our backyard.....when they started the work DH was here, he had a side job (and he's laid off so needed to take it!), so he wasn't here most of the day while they were working, they were just about done when he came home. The cement job itself was fine, but we didn't realize what problem they caused until a few hours after they left......
So our house is kind of a mother/daughter, my mom has a garden apartment downstairs and about 3 hours after they finished the cement, she used her bathroom and water was EVERYWHERE! even if she put on the sink the water was coming out of the toilet!! apparently her plumbing was still hooked up to a septic tank that was buried under the dirt in the backyard and the guys filled it up with cement! now this is giving us an added expense because we had to rip out all of her (newly!) sheetrocked walls to route pipes off the main pipeline. there's a ton of debris since DH also had to take out the tiles in the old bathroom and chop up the old cement subfloor. He wants to pay for a dumpster to get rid of all of it and I feel like this cement company should come and pick up all this crap, why should we have another expense when we just paid them $3K last week! had they called me or DH when they saw the septic tank we would not have told them to fill it up with cement as they did.
what would you do if you were in this situation? I might sick my mother in law on them lol, she recommends this company to everyone, and I know they've had a lot of jobs because of her. I can't see how they can say no to at least come by and pick up this mess. I'm so upset, we're leaving for vacation in 3 weeks and we did not need this stress or expense right before leaving!!!!

Seriously, have your MIL call - She will get them to come by and shoulder some of this AS THEY SHOULD! I am so sorry this happened to you!!!!!!!
Would you mind FMing me the name of the company? Everyone uses the same people around by us and I want to make sure not to use them when the time comes.
Good Luck! So sorry this happened, and let me know if you need a reputable plumber, DH's uncle is probably the most honest guy in the world!

Re: contractor/plumbing drama- what would you do?
so I'm guessing everyone else would just deal w/ it and not ask the concrete company to pick up the debris or b*tch them out since no one else has replied.....either that or my posts are just wayyyyyy too long for anyone to even read I'm thinking it's the latter

I'm not sure what their liability is, but I did want to say my mouth dropped to the floor and I covered my eyes when i was reading what happened.
I'm so sorry. What a PITA!
