Contractions that last 4-5 minutes???

Has anyone ever had that happen? My friend is having them lasting that long, she said they have a def. beginning and ending, and are painful enough to wake her up...her dr told her everyone is different and this is normal. She is 37 weeks.

I had BH contractions like that. It's really annoying, but normal.

Yes! I honestly couldn't keep track of my contractions bc they just never seemed to end. I think they called them piggybacking but I don't remember for sure. They started seven minutes apart and shorter but they got longer and closer together to where I just couldn't even time them bc every time I thought it was ending it started again. Thankfully I felt nothing once I got an epi but had to let that wear off when I was ready to push. At that point they were lasting several minutes, breaking for about 30 seconds, and then starting again! It was crazy and exhausting!

This!!! Had this during labor with the most PAINFUL contractions possible... And a delayed anesthesiologist. Wanted to die. And had the same thing - no more epi because I was pushing for too long and DS was stuck (pushed for four long hours!).

Also had BH like this for a few weeks leading up to labor. They were on and off and happened mostly at night... Contractions would last foreverrrrr and I'd think maybe I was going into labor but couldn't time them because they lasted for so long.

Yes, I too had that DURING labor....but she is not in labor, and doctor didn't do a NST. Just a lil concerned.

Yes, I had them. They are called Tectnonic contractions. Not fun!!

Edited to add that I had them before labor.. for weeks. Went into PTL and they put me on mag and delayed another 2 weeks. Went back at 35 weeks with the same issue. I had a C-section because one of my LO's heart rate was dropping with those long contractions. The long contractions are fine as long as baby is cooperating.
They are just super painful and scary!
