Contact lenses during a c-section?

Can I wear my contacts or do I have to wear my glasses? I imagine at 5 am Monday when we are leaving for the hospital, I probably won't care but I am wondering. TIA!

I don't think they will let you wear contact lenses. I think you have to switch to glasses

I wore my glasses, but I don't remember if it was because I wasn't allowed to wear contacts....I'm no help, sorry....

Thanks! I think I probably won't care the day of, but I was curious.

Times like this make me angry at myself that I didn't send my glasses to get fixed!

I had a late c-section- was scheduled for 11am and went in at 11.30 so I did wear my contact lenses in- they asked me if I was wearing them but didn't ask me to take them out- I told them that they were disposable and I had a backup pair, and the nurse said that was a good idea.

I found out the day before my c-section when I went in for pre-surgical testing that I couldn't wear my contacts.

My glasses were broken and I rushed to the mall to get new glasses but they couldn't get me new ones in time. I had to wear my squished ones during my surgery.

I would def check with the hospital and see what their policy is.

No contacts were permitted for either of my c-sections or gall bladder surgery.

Might be different because yours is scheduled but the entire time I was in labor, which led to my csec not one single person asked me anything about my eyes.

I dont wear contacts, but i clearly remember then NOT asking.

You should wear glasses in the small case something goes wrong with the CS.

The risk they worry about is corneal abrasion (which was probably more common with old contact brands). If there is an emergency, and the anesthesiologist has to switch over to general anesthesia, your eyes can be severely scratched up from the contacts which is not only painful, but can get infected, and can require multiple trips to the eye doctor.

And no, you don't have enough time to take the contacts out if there is an emergency during your CS.

They let me wear my contacts during both my c-sections and I plan to wear them this time around. I hate my glasses, can't really see as well with them and they make me dizzy sometimes.

My hospital makes you take them out. You can't wear them during any kind of surgery.

I just had my c-section on 2/11 and there was no problem wearing my contacts. i had my glasses too just in case.
