constipation in 7 month old?
This morning when I got my DD up and changed her diaper she had a very thick and hard looking poop in her diaper. It was a little smaller than a golf ball. She was very fussy last night and didn't fall asleep for almost an hour and a half after we put her to bed. I thought it might be because she was teething, but now I'm worried she might be fussy because she's constipated? Is there anything I can do?

My ped recommended rectal stimulation, pear juice, mango nectar, warm baths and massage, and bicycle legs to help constipation. Doesn't mean she's going to continue having problems, could just be a fluke. Babies get backed up every now and then.

we've had this a few times - it happends when DD eats in new foods. When she has a hard poop, I give her prunes as her next meal. That usually helps her out. When its gotten real bad, I gave her a rectal suppository but that was my last resort. Try the prunes and as PP said, the bicycle legs to help move it along.

Is she drinking enough water? Sounds like it could be dehydration.

Offer lots of water and clockwise tummy rubs. I give baby food prunes but she won't drink the juice. Avoid constipating food like bananas, rice, apples, cooked carrots and dairy.
