Constipated Toddler
Ever since DD came off of breast milk at 3 months old she's been a constipated child. She is now 2. We give her about 3-4 ounces of prune juice a day but this has seemed to stop working. She was so constipated last week. She was crying and so miserable everytime she tried to poop. It was really heartbreaking.
I spoke to my doctor and she suggested a half a capful of Miralax which I started on Saturday. It's been working pretty good. But today she's had 3 poops already and they've all been loose. The last one on the watery side.
Those that give Miralax, do you give as needed? Or are they on a regular regimen of it? What dose do you give?

Re: Constipated Toddler
I use Miralex everyday for the same reason as your DD. My son is similar. Cried when he had to poop bc he got very backed up. The Miralax does help, but every so often I find he gets a lot of poops in a day or they are looser. When that happens I skip a day with the Miralax and give him more of a BRAT diet for the day. Lots of water too. I go back to Miralax the next day, but a spoonful. Could be a little bug or something she ate.

How much is a spoonful? Teaspoon?

Yeah, a heaping teaspoonful. I actually stoped measuring and just eye it. Doesn't have to be exact, but around.

Re: Constipated Toddler
Did your doctor mention an elimination diet? Constipation is usually a sign of food intolerance.

Re: Constipated Toddler
we did miralax for a while, try it every other day...
but... my son was SO badly constipated. In the end, he was with-holding and once he trained, he was perfectly fine! NO more issues. I would literally pass baseball sized poops
Could she be showing signs of wanting to train?
