Constant calls on cell phone from random numbers

It's making me crazy - it's up to like ten calls a day. From random numbers, and so many different ones that it's impossible to block them all. Today there were a bunch of 347 numbers and then an East Hampton number. Dead air if I answer.
Is anyone else dealing with this? I know the easy answer is not to pick up, but it's still annoying

Yes at home and on my cell.
I don't pick up but i find it odd that if you do, it's dead air.
I always thought it was telemarketers trying to sell me something
I wonder what the point is if it's just nobody there?

ITA! Except I get them at home, even though I am on a national Do not call list. There are apps to block them now. I heard about it on the radio, and I heard they work for cell phones:

Yes - as of the past month maybe, it's constant and so annoying! I never answer, but I always wind up googling each number, just to see if there is any info out there. When there is, it's always reported as a scam or "your auto warranty is about to expire" type of BS

To verify that you're a real number and then, they sell your number to other telemarketers, groups and scammers who buy them in bundles. It's maddening

yep. I won about 12 free vacations and can lower my Cc bills daily.
I give my son the phone now and tell him to talk Pokemon cards.

I'm geting a couple a day that I don't answer. If they leave a message, which is rare, it's a recorded message about vacations. It's always from a number with the same 1st 3 digits of my cell. I've been wondering if that's on purpose, to make me think it's a real person.

I get a lot of calls on my home phone that I never answer and they never leave a message. Rarely any calls on my cell though.

Been getting them for over a year now. DH picked up one call and that was the start.
I NEVER answer, that just verifies an active line.

So annoying. I did not realize that they are checking if you answer the phone to resell your number. I never pick them up.

I always get the credit card interest one or student loan one and dh has won numerous vacations. Most of mine are 516 numbers and since I'm job hunting I always pick up.
