constant braxton hicks
i am having a TON of BH contractions lately - at least 20 every day.
should i be keeping track of them? is this normal?
i am definitely going to ask my doctor at tomorrow's appointment, just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this.
UPDATE:
so, all is well. i went into the dr's office, they hooked me up to the monitor and i didn't have any contractions in 20 minutes. plus, baby's HR was great.
i also had my strep B test and my first internal - my doctor said i am "starting to efface." she indicated that it sounded like i was having contractions (from what i told her about last week and over the weekend), and that might have caused me to dilate.
she also said she doesn't think i am going to go late

Re: constant braxton hicks
I'm still not sure I've even had one! *shrug*
I'm on watch for any sudden tightness, cramping, pain or jerk.. I was told to make sure they weren't constant, timely or often. If any of those happen often or timely I had to call in.
If it were me (given all that I'm going through) I'd probably have called in by now just to put my mind at ease.
Who cares your appt is tomorrow? I put that off once and nearly had my head chopped off by the doc... hahaha

Re: constant braxton hicks
I get them but not that often. I found that if I drink water, change positions or just sit and relax they seem to go away. Yesterday they were pretty bad I kept thinking oh boy this is it. I laid down for about 30 minutes and the longer I was laying down the less intense they got. I guess I was just overdoing it yesterday.
They are totally normal but definately talk to your doctor about them.

I just asked my Dr. about this last week and she said that if you get more than 4 in an hour to call the office.

Re: constant braxton hicks
I get them all day everyday. Last week they were coming every 3-5 min so I ended up in L&D and got a shot of terbutaline to stop them. They came back a few hours later and I am still having them. I was in the office today and they are just watching me closely- no changes in the cervix so I'm not in labor and they have did another fetal fibronectin test which detects if you are at risk of going into labor in the next 2 weeks. If that's + I will need to get steroids as a precaution.
In any case, I would definately go get them checked out. They told me they would rather see me more frequently then having me diagnose myself. You can't know if they are just BH or if they are labor. I think the rule of thumb is if they last more then 1 hour and they don't change with drinking water or changing position you should go in.

I used to get them all them time towards the end...I'd say the last month I got them everyday and usually when I walked a lot...so maybe you should cut down on your activity level and just take it easy.

Im getting them too. Im hoping its the beginning of something as when I spoke to my principal today, we talked about how if she is NOT here by the first day I need to report back to school, I am going in. I will not lose ONE day with this child.

Re: constant braxton hicks
I have been having them constantly too. My doctor checked me last time I went in and he said my cervix is still long and hard, so the contractions aren't doing anything. He told me to make sure I am getting enough water, because not enough water sometimes triggers them.
