Confused - Conception date related
Yesterday was my first appt and based on my LMP my due date is 9/5 (which makes me 10 wks) but the sonogram said I was 10 wks 4 days. Which doesn't match up to the dates that DH and I DTD. Do you think I could have gotten pregnant before my fertile time? I thought these early sonograms were accurate for dating? Confused....

They are accurate, but not to the exact minute. 10w4d is still pretty on-point.

Re: Confused - Conception date related
I thought the sonogram EDD went by how the baby is measuring at any given point, which can always change.

yes... i know people that the further along they go the baby measured ahead... that obviously had nothing to do with the conception date..
id only be worried if you were measuring behind.

Re: Confused - Conception date related
So it doesn't necessarily mean I conceived 10 wks 4 days ago? Ok, cause I was scared this was an immaculate conception!

No, if anything you conceived 8 weeks 4 days ago, because you are already 2 weeks pregnant (give or take) when you conceive. It goes by your LMP.
ETA: Congrats, btw!!!

I think that you don't necessary conceive on the day you DTD. It can take several days for the egg to implant in your uterus, which is the day they would calculate as your conception date, I believe. I think this because according to my due date, I was away on a business trip NOT with dh when I conceived!! I guess my egg took a while to implant...

Re: Confused - Conception date related
im fairly certain the sono dating is based on the baby's size. either way its common for it to be different by a few days or so. it can vary on different machines and based on who is doing the measurements.

Re: Confused - Conception date related
I guess what's getting me is that the sono date would be before the time we DTD. I was charting for a few months so I'm so curious about when we actually conceived. Guess I'll never know.
I'm thrilled and scared as heck! This is #2 for us. Thanks for all of your input!

Re: Confused - Conception date related
My OB said that sono measurements aren't 100% accurate - they usually measure +/- 5 days so if you are measuring 10w4d - you are anywhere from 9w6d to 11w2d.

We conceived (DTD) on day 8 of my cycle, 2 days after AF finished. No where near my fertile time on the charts. Hence the huge SURPRISE! Lol. And in the beginning my EDD did not match up with this date. Now it does. It's confusing.

Exactly. It's based on an average, not every baby is going to be the same size at the same time. A few days off doesn't change your due date or anything.

Re: Confused - Conception date related
They say early US are most accurate. My DD was moved 2 weeks farther based on mine but now my baby is measuring 2 weeks larger so I think my DD is really in march not april like I originally thought.
