Concerts at 36 weeks??
DH just called me very excited that he was able to get me tix to Bon Jovi at Nassau Coliseum in May. He got FLOOR seats (though not the first section). I am thrilled, but immediately got petrified about the volume level and whether or not it's safe to go. I had gotten conflicting responses from two different doctors in my practice back in November when I asked about attending a concert with front row seats (one said okay, one said no)... I am just so torn. I feel terrible because I know DH was so excited to tell me he got them as a surprise and my response was not what he expected. What would you do? Do you think it's okay to go, or would you skip it and sell the tickets?
As an aside - I did not go to the concert in December for which i had the front row seats.
Thanks for your input.

Re: Concerts at 36 weeks??
Just call and ask your OB. I'm sure they'd give you a yes or no answer about it and then you'd be following your doctor's advice.
I was at a wedding when I was 19 weeks and the music was SO LOUD that *I* was in severe pain!!! I kept leaving and going to the bathroom just to get way from the speakers. Thankfully they turned them down about halfway through, but I was really miserable and scared!!! I found out later that the baby could barely hear anything at that point and it wasn't a big deal at all. My stress level over the volume was probably worse for the baby than the loud music!
I don't know about at 36 weeks though. I think I would've been really uncomfortable at a concert by that time. Between bathroom runs and general discomfort, I wouldn't have wanted to go.

Re: Concerts at 36 weeks??
Thanks for your reply. I have an appointment for my check up tomorrow, so I'll definitely ask again... but the doc I'm seeing is the same one who told me that front row for Transsiberian Orchestra in December was fine. I just wasn't comfortable with going, so we sold those tickets.
I'm leaning towards not going. I feel awful because DH was so excited to get them and surprise me, thinking I would love it, but I'm getting anxious now just at the thought of going.

Don't know about the safety factor... Just adding that I'm going to see Bon Jovi on Feb 25th... And, if it's safe, at the Nassau Coliseum show in may when I'll be 6 months. I have floor seats, too, but I guess I can't dance around like a crazy woman like I usually do. When are you going?
Let us know what the doc says. Yay Bon Jovi!

I don't think it's a big deal at all. My sister and I went to see Madonna when she was 35 weeks pregnant at the Garden. we had the BEST time, and she was up dancing in the aisles with me and some random gay guy who LOVED her and her pregnant belly and kept telling her how fabulous she was. I would have no hesitation going to see bon jovi.

Re: Concerts at 36 weeks??
I don't really think there is a safety concern. . I do notice when I am around very loud music or noises that my LO seems to freak out a bit and move around but i don't really know that that is medically bad at all. .
I agree that you can just check in with your doctor. . and also if you feel like it I would say go and if you find out it feels like too much then you can always leave after a little while. .
maybe ask your DH if that would upset me. . he might be more psyched to go with you for 45 minutes than to sell them. .
