computer savy people, I have a question about photoshop

I used to be able to take a picture and make it look so much better. Something happened to our computer and a new version of the program was installed - at least it doesn't seem the same. I look very shiny in all pictures, so I usually would blend my skin tone in the program before printing pictures. Otherwise I hate pictures. For some reason I just can't seem to do it with this program.
Does anyone have an easy way to blend skin tone. I literally would click on a brush-picture and that was it. It's so different now. I would love instructions that make sense.
Thanks.

You can try using the healing brush

First create a new layer and do your corrections on the new layer so your original isn't damaged.

Select the healing brush, set it to sample all layers. You also want to set the mode to darken and use a soft edged brush (bring your "hardness" down near zero).

ALT + Click to select an area you want to "clone" from and then paint over the shiny area. The healing brush is different from the cloning tool - I tend to use more of a clicking or "dabbing" action than painting - almost like you are dabbing the shine with powder Chat Icon

Very shiny? Like sparkly? Maybe you're a vampire?
