How would you do this?

My friend has forms he has to fill out for nypd. It has to be typed. Obviously hardly anyone has a typewriter..

Can he scan the documents into word and then just put the cursor where he needs to type? And then print it out?

I am computer dumb and apparently he is too! TIA!

They are probably PDFs. If he has Photoshop or Acrobat Pro he could do this.

You can scan it and save it as a JPG.
Then create a blank Word document, then do Format – Background – Printed Watermark. Select "Picture Watermark," browse for your image file, and make sure you uncheck the "Washout" box.

Now the form is in the background of your Word doc – type away, moving the cursor wherever you need it.

That's a pretty cool trick.

I have the full version of Adobe Acrobat (not just the free reader you can download) and I always use that.
