Complaint about kids extracurricular activity, do I call again?

My daughter goes to an art school on the weekends, I pay for the sessions and supplies. Well her last class (which was extended a week becasue of the blizzard) , she didn't do any art work the teacher let them play outside. Now i was pissed I paid for this class not for her to play outside. At least go and do an art project outside. She had projects she didn't finish that she could have worked on. But for a 10 week program you should have 10 projects planned. So i called the school the office manager was in shock and said that's not our policy and then transferred me to the woman who is in charge of education. I left a message for her and no return call back. Do I call again? My daughter starts a class again in a few weeks and i want to make sure this won't happen again. Especially with the weather being nice.

It has been more then 48 hours. I'm not looking for any money back, I just want them to be aware and make sure it doesn't happen in the next session.

I would call back. I'd be pretty annoyed too since you paid for a certain amount of class time and you assume those classes are used for their intended purpose.

Something similar happened to me yesterday. My husband called me and said he was working late and couldn't bring my son to religious education. I scrambled home in traffic, dragged him over there to arrive 10 minutes late. I was determined he was not missing the class. I run in, hot, stressed, with road rage. Then I decide to sit in my car and wait since he's late anyway it didn't pay for me to go all the way home. No sooner do I get in my car, the church door opens on the side and they all come outside to play. Like play, not outside learning about God's creatures. Ugh, I was so frustrated. But I couldn't complain since the teacher volunteers.

So I called and the director has been out of the office, but she also emailed them about it so they are aware. She should be back in the office tomorrow.
This was the first session with this teacher , her other one was awesome had projects and additional projects for them to do. I just don't want to overreact.

You're not overreacting at all, if it's an art class they should be doing art work.

Just playing devil's advocate here but did they go outside because the project or piece they were working on was finished and it was the last day? If so, let it go.

I asked DD that and she said they didn't do anything. They just played outside. If that was the case I would be fine with it. We brought home two unfinished projects she could have worked on.

I'd be annoyed! It would be different if the teacher integrated the outdoors with a project, or if the kids went outside when they were done.

The religion class situation made me laugh out loud. Every week kids in my class beg to play in my backyard. The only times I've done that were when I had a lesson that involved outside and spoke with parents about it first.

The director just called me back and honestly she did not no what to say she apologized profusely, was shocked and embarrassed that this happened and her and another director are going to sit down with the teacher. She said this is not the schools policy and thanked me for calling. Ill see how the next session goes, if i don't see any change I'll try to find another place. I wasn't to thrilled with the teacher in the first place. And shes the only one who teachers classes on the weekend for my DDs age group.
But thank you for all the responses.
