Comparable to Aruba
DH and I love Aruba, we've gone for the past two years. We will probably go again this summer, but I'm just curious... What other islands are similar in terms of great beach during the day, great options at night for restaurants and nightlife. We love that we feel safe to go out in Aruba, so please don't suggest all-inclusive type islands. We don't like feeling stuck.

I would look into Turks & Caicos - maybe not as much night life, but the beaches are amazing

Comparable to Aruba
When I was a travel agent, Aruba was a staple standard for returning vacationers. There's really nothing else like it in terms of weather and safety. If you're looking to go somewhere safe and tropical, the Cayman Islands are nice. Weather isn't as guaranteed, and there isn't as much to do/restaurants like Aruba although it is beautiful

Re: Comparable to Aruba
I think St. Maarten is pretty comparable to Aruba.

I think the saying goes "There is no place like Aruba. There is no place like Aruba" Not for me anyway. I wish I could afford to go back.

Re: Comparable to Aruba
You should look into st. Barts. It's a small island. You rent your own house and rental car, there are amazing beaches and over 70 restaurants. It's extremely safe, no crime.
We have been 3 times in the past 2 years and love it. It's a french island with the euro as currency
Check out wimco.com Sibarth.com

Bermuda. But only May to Oct as it's not in the Carribean and gets chilly. Very safe. Very upscale.

Re: Comparable to Aruba
I am very curious about this, too. We went to Aruba about a year and a half ago for my husband's 40th and loved it! Weather was amazing, so many great restaurants, etc.
My 40th is next year, so I would like to do a similar relaxing getaway, but maybe not Aruba again (only because we do enjoy traveling to different places).
What are people's thoughts on/experiences with St. Lucia?

I also say Turks and Caicos. Not a ton of nightlife like the pp said, but beautiful, safe. We bicycled around the island a bit. Excellent restaurants.

We went to Barbados a few years ago. We liked it, but we definitely like Aruba better.

To me there is nothing like St. Maarten plus there are 2 sides to the island and you literally feel like you are on 2 separate vacations.

Re: Comparable to Aruba
Anguilla...Though if you mean night life as clubs, you won't get that there. Amazing restaurants and some of the best beaches in the world.
