Coloring your hair?
Hi ladies.
I'm 10 weeks now and wondering if anyone had their hair hi lighted or colored during the pregnancy. If so, when in the pregnancy did you do it? I found a few all-natural/organic hair salons and desperately need to get my hair hi lighted but even with the organic I'm anxious.
(You know it's bad when your DH notices and says "it looks like you got a bad ombré job!" How does he even know what ombré is?? )
Thanks!!!

Coloring your hair?
I actually had my hair dyed at 4 weeks, before I knew I was pregnant.. Around week 8-9 I needed it done again, but tried to put it off till after the first trimester. My ob insisted it was fine and not to worry. I went again at week 12 because I couldn't hold off anymore. I have dyed my hair every 5 weeks since. My ob said that it was a "phase" in the 90's where everyone thought it was unsafe, but there is no research that shows it is.

Coloring your hair?
I highlighted at 3 weeks before I knew I was pregnant and then again at 12 weeks. My doctor had no issue she only cautioned that if I was sensitive to smells I might want to ask to sit in a well ventilated area. I didn't have any issues. I get a FULL foil. I am going again next week at 22 weeks, I need a touch up so badly!
PS - LOL at your husband knowing ombre

Re: Coloring your hair?
Highlights are fine bc they don't touch your scalp. I was told to wait until the 2nd trimester, but my Drs office is overly cautious. They do not recommend dying hair bc that does touch your scalp and has a better chance of being absorbed.
I highlighted my hair twice last pregnancy and have my 2nd appt during this pregnancy on Friday.

Re: Coloring your hair?
since you won't be ingesting it the only thing you need is to have it well ventilated.
there's nothing anywhere stating it was harmful whether it's highlights or a full dye job

Re: Coloring your hair?
I had mine highlighted and dyed throughout my pregnancy, not as much as normal because I needed to save some cash. The first time was in the first trimester.

Re: Coloring your hair?
Did my hair (colored) in both first & second trimester. I'm not in my third and did a glaze (less permanent) this weekend just b/c I didn't want to sit in the chair too long, and it was to cover up my grays (not really cover, but conceal/blend.)

Re: Coloring your hair?
I highlighted my whole pregnancy. I even got a full head of highlights right before I found out I was pregnant. And it was a normal salon, normal highlights- nothing organic All was fine.

Re: Coloring your hair?
With DD, I waited until I was out of the 1st trimester (14 weeks). I'm doing the same this time around. My greys are terrible, so I'm using Grey Away to hide them for the next 2 weeks until I can dye my mop.
