Re: "Color" races
Yeah, there's dozens. Different companies, different charities. Color Vibe, Color Run, Blacklight Run, Glow Run, Run or Dye, Electric Run, and many, many more.
For these, you run a regular 5k, but you run through "color zones" where volunteers throw colored corn starch at the runners. So by the end, you're a rainbow. At the end of the run, they give you color packets that you can throw. They have an after party with some food trucks, free samples, color run gear to purchase, a DJ- they do timed color throws which are sooo cool to see and be part of. It's just really fun. You don't even realize you're being exercising. Plus, I did it at Citifield this year so we got to run on the warning track and sit in the dugout. It was really cool. This year, the color run did two different types- a day run and a night run. The day run they did glitter packets at the end. The night run had glow in the dark packets.
I've also done the Wipeout Run, which I highly recommend. It's being held in Brooklyn at Aviator Sports and Events on Sept. 19th and it has an obstacle course inspired by the show Wipeout.
There are about 10 obstacles- monkey bars, rope swing, the "big balls"- three balls you need to run across, slides, etc. You can skip an obstacle you don't think you can do- like I could NOT do the monkey bars. I barely made it to the second rung. But it's sooooo much fun.
Check it out!

Re: "Color" races
I just did the Color Vibe and had a good time...
My friends did the Color Run last year (I was ill) and they said that between the two - they felt the "Run" was more organized and how the color was distributed was much better... the over all feeling was that the Run was better than the Vibe.
