cold sore ?
i feel one coming on my lip  ( doc office is closed already - anyone know offhand if can i take a Valtrex for it?

The pills? There is debate on this one, but I asked 3 doctors (2 of them high-risk perinatologists), and all said they were perfectly fine to take. One doctor even said that for patients who have the other version of the cold sore virus (if you know what I mean!) they have the women take Valtrex for weeks before their due dates, to make sure they don't have an outbreak when they deliver.
ETA: If you search on here (or wait for others to post), you'll find a lot of posts on this, I remember searching back in the day for it.

I think I also heard that valtrex was OK, but definitely call your Dr.
I had a cold sore at week 8 or so, and the thing was a monster!! I was applying a prescription topical cream (zovirax) which helped w/the pain. I never did ask the Dr. if that stuff was OK...I hope it was!! I also heard its common to get them during pregnancy...GREAT! I haven't gotten another since, but I still got 28 weeks to go!

i have the topical zovirax ointment too (although i think it expired and put some of that on last nite) like a dope i forgot it home today i didn't take the pill but it hasn't blown up yet so i'm hopeful it will just go away - ugh! thanks

I also got one maybe about 15 wks or so....I used zovirex cream (btw my dr said it was fine) & I also asked about Valtrex, she said that was fine, but I decided to just use the cream.
