Cold remedies for toddler?
dd is 28m and has had a cold/cough for over a week now. it doesn't seem to be getting worse but its not getting any better either. of course im sick too because im with her 24/7. ive been running the vaporizer during naps and nighttime along with putting vicks on her chest, back and feet at night. I feel bad because she's missing school and her other activities which only run for another week before xmas break. any remedies that could help get rid of this cold? shes still too young for any over the counter meds right? tia!

Have you tried Zarbees? It's a honey-based cough syrup with no medicine in it.

A cold for over a week I'd go to the dr. It could be a sinus infection.
If it's just a cold, plenty of water and vicks is all we do.

No meds. Just do what you are doing. I also would not keep her home from things for just a cold.....if there is a fever or she is lacking then energy then I'd skip but for just a cold...life goes on as normal in our house. And its completely normal for colds to last for weeks.

Dd has had a cold for 2 weeks. Been to the Dr and was told we just have to wait it out. Have to say this is the worst one she has had but since she's not lethargic she's been to daycare

I've been using the Hyland's cold n' cough for the past few days. Once in the morning and once at night before bed and it seems to be helping my twins.

For cough, I gave DD a spoonful of Buckwheat Honey, melted it in a saucepan with some water, and her cough was done. She couldn't sleep at night due to the excessive cough, she started to sound like an old man I couldn't believe it how quickly the honey remedy worked. The cold will take it its sweet time..about a week or so.

This. DD is 3 and had the worst cough/cold last month. Her doc suggested Zarbees and it helped SO much with the cough.

Also know that a cough is a natural way for the body to get rid of things. Sometimes it is very bad to suppress a cough.
A co-worker was givign her daughter "home remedies" such as the honey etc and her daughter ended up with pneumonia and needed to be hospitalized. The Dr told her part of it could have been her treating the cough. The cough was needed for her daughter to get rid mucous.
