Coffee maker question

I need some help deciding on a coffee maker and was wondering if anyone could give feedback on which machine you would keep.

I am the only coffee drinker in my home, so based on that here is more info:

I got a Bunn single serve machine with a coupon code… it's a great machine. Uses pods, ground coffee and hot water. The thing is, it comes with these "drawers" or attachments that are bulky and I don't really have a place to store them. The coffee is great, but it was a pricy machine.. I also can't pre-program it and I end up using pods in the morning b/c I just don't have the space or time to put the ground coffee in the drawer and refill it. Each time you use it, you have to add water.

I found a decent Mr. Coffee coffee maker at BJ's on sale. It's programmable, and makes a hot cup… does not use pods.

Thing is, sometimes I like decaf at night, but not all the time. I end up opening a can of decaf and it sits around for a while since I don't drink it each night.. then it gets stale.

Sorry for all the details. I am going beyond my budget to keep the single serve, but I don't know what to do…

Any coffee drinkers want to give advice?? ETA: would rather not buy pods to often bc we are on a tight budget.

TIA!

Re: Coffee maker question

Probably not the tastiest option, but I use organic instant coffee. I just heat some water on the stove and voila!

organic I would think would be out of your budget based on what you said.

you can place the open can in the freezer, it will keep fresh longer. Buy the reusable k-cups and use your own grounds

instant is a good option, keep it in the fridge

Like pp said, keep your decaf in the freezer! It pretty much lasts forever. I keep a can in the freezer for coffee emergencies and it's always fine.

Re: Coffee maker question

This is the one I use, just because it's the one my local grocery store carries Coffee

It does run about $9, but a jar lasts for a long time.

Re: Coffee maker question

Do you like iced coffee?

Pour the remaining decaf into ice cube trays and use later on

How about getting the pods that you can put your ground coffee in? That might be your best option. I have never kept coffee in freezer, but many people do and sear by it. That might be a good option for your decaf!
